Tunis/Tunisia — Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi, on Monday, had a phone call with Italian Premier Mario Draghi.
During the call, Draghi expressed his country’s support to Tunisia in all fields, particularly in economy, through increasing his country’s investment notably in energy, reads a statement of the Prime Ministry.
Draghi also stated Italy’s willingness to shortly organise the Tunisian-Italian Joint High Commission meeting in Rome, alongside a business forum bringing together Tunisian and Italian business leaders.
Mechichi commended the level of cooperation between the two countries in all areas as Italy is the leading investor in the energy field.
The two premiers emphasised the need to boost bilateral cooperation on regional issues, namely the need to provide support to Libya and bring its reconstruction process to a successful end.
During the telephone call, Mechichi congratulated Draghi on his appointment as PM wishing him success.
