Ghana international, Caleb Ekuban featured for Trabzonspor today when the side defeated Alanyaspor 2-0 in order to be crowned champions of this season’s Turkish Cup.
Having missed out on winning the Turkish Super Lig title, tonight’s victors have ensured that they end the season with the other domestic silverware.
Right from the blast of the kick-off whistle at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, a hungry Trabzonspor pushed Alanyaspor in a bid to get the opening goal.
After 25 minutes of play, Abdulkadir Omur equalized with an assist from Alexander Sorloth to reward the efforts of Trabzonspor.
Unfortunately for Caleb Ekuban who had started the game on a bright note, he had to be substituted on the 41st minute as a result of an injury he picked.
His absence will matter little with his teammates returning from the break to put up an even better performance. Having kept Alanyaspor at bay, Trabzonspor will finally double their lead on the 90th minute through Alexander Sorloth.
That late goal cemented a 2-0 win for Caleb Ekuban’s team as they celebrated triumph in the Turkish Cup competition.
This season, the Black Stars asset made 7 appearances in the Turkish Cup and contributed with 1 goal and 3 assists in the run-up to today’s big win.
