Selebi Phikwe — In its quest to support the government in the fight against COVID-19, Stanbic Bank Botswana has donated community relief elements.
The COVID-19 Community Relief Elements include 150 masks, 50 basic toiletry hampers (face cloth), Sunlight bar soap, Ingram’s camphor, Shield roll-on (Male/Female), Colgate, toothbrushes, Blue seal Vaseline and 300 hand sanitisers.
The donation is part of the P260 000 commitment made by the bank to support communities where the bank is represented.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Selebi Phikwe Deputy District Commissioner, Mr Mokgethi Nfila said he was proud to see many companies supporting the government noting that Stanbic Bank had previously donated P1m towards the fight against COVID-19.
“We are very grateful of the gesture,” said Mr Nfila.
He explained that the donations were handed through the district commissioner’s office and would be appropriately distributed.
Stanbic Bank, Selebi Phikwe branch, Ms Reginah Moloko praised the effort and progress that the government of Botswana had made in the fight against COVID-19.
“We must offer the necessary support required to assist our communities in times of need,” said Ms Moloko.
She added that Stanbic Bank was passionate about contributing to sustainable success and growth for Botswana.
Ms Moloko said she was hopeful that the donation would make a meaningful impact to livelihoods adding that the bank strived to foster an environment that carefully unpacked the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on communities and offered ways to adapt and withstand the health consequences.
She advised that precautionary measures should continue to be observed to curb the spread of the virus.
